(A Belated) Happy Winter Solstice

My brother and his girlfriend were enjoying a much deserved holiday, Nan was ill and Great Aunt Rose didn’t really fancy coming out in the cold and snow (and at 93, who can blame her?), but between me, Ails, mum and dad, we had a great Winter Solstice.

Delia came up trumps as always with her creamy vegetable pie, with mash potato – all the veg , rather satifyingly from the allotment.

The shortest day has gone, and soon, it all starts again…

Saving £500 a year!

During 2011, I kept a diary of how much money I save from growing my own fruit and vegetables. After totalling all my outgoings, I saved approximately £500 over the year. I made a spreadsheet to calculate these savings - it’s nothing too complicated, as I’m no Excel guru, but hopefully someone else will find it as useful (and strangely fun) as me.
